The Young Field Archers International Festival – Archer’s Youth Camp is an international training and exchange project dedicated to young archers aged 9 to 14 and their families.
Funded by the European Union, the project involves the field archery federations of Austria, Finland, and Italy, with the International Field Archery Association (IFAA) serving as an associate partner.
From theory… to practice
The core of the project is a summer camp featuring not only archery-related sports activities, but also cultural and educational programs, hosted in the stunning setting of Andalo in the province of Trento. The stars of the show will be thirty-six young archers, selected from national federation members based on specific criteria. The experience will be replicated with unique local variations in Vienna and Helsinki, with capstone events planned in each country.
Coach Leo and his team
We created a mascot that embodies the ideal coach —full of energy, strength, and mindfulness— the kind of role model every young archer dreams of having: Coach Leo. This friendly little lion will bring our social media pages to life alongside his team —an ibex, a reindeer, and a fox— representing the three participating nations.
Follow us—there will be plenty of opportunities to meet our mascots and their “social media trainees”!
We are on target! Shoot, learn, grow… our goals
Shoot: Together, we will improve our young trainees’ technical skills within a broader context of motor skill development and awareness, all while in direct contact with nature—a hallmark of our shooting style.
Learn: We will experience an environment that embraces cultural diversity through sport. English will serve as our common language, breaking down barriers and fostering an international atmosphere just like that of major sporting events.
Grow: our young students are shaping their character; this experience has been built —brick by brick— to foster self-esteem, discipline, and the sharing of universal ethical values through sport and social interaction.
… and above all, we have fun!
Great ideas, great goals The project is not only aimed at young people and families, but also aims to develop positive relationships at an international and social level, especially in the field of education within our discipline. Our goal is the training of qualified teachers and staff in the youth sector to improve the offer for the archers of tomorrow.
The role of the European Union
As stated on the European Parliament website under the sports section, the European Union promotes the development of youth sports through targeted funding, policy guidelines, and the recognition of the educational and social value of physical activity. Our project is funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
